Who doesn’t love Tom Hanks? He posts pictures of lost gloves on Twitter.
In his latest performance he plays Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, the pilot who successfully landed his plane on the Hudson River saving all 155 people on board. Directed by Clint Eastwood, ‘Sully’ focuses heavily on the less told story that Sullenberger could have safely turned the plane back and landed at one of two nearby airports. A panel from the National Transportation Safety Board continuously interview him and play the bad guys in the movie.
Sully (the film) is as cool and calm as Captain Sullenberger was on that day. A minimalist soundtrack accompanies a sometimes refreshing, under dramatised reconstruction of the very short flight. Whilst I wouldn’t call it a must see, it’s worth watching once.
