“Everybody wants some and most people get some” is the best tag line that I could come up with for this review.
I watched the film and couldn’t help but feel like it was sexist. I started to write the review but stalled. I liked it but just didn’t know how to address the issue.
Then I stumbled across this article by Meg Shields for Film School Rejects. She talks about the ‘female gaze’ in this film and movies in general. Also how it’s nice for men and women of all sexual orientations to look at men flexing their biceps in crop tops.
So the film is pretty good. It’s not a film where you can’t draw your eyes from the screen. But you might enjoy it if it’s raining outside, you’re a bit hungover and having a lazy weekend.
I give it 6.5/10.
